RIP Philippe de Broca (1933 – 2004)

When people think of French cinema, first thing that comes on their mind are grim existential dramas that win festival prizes and critical accolades. There are French movies that are fun to watch. Philippe de Broca was the king of that brand of cinema and his films not only managed to entertain millions of people all around the world but they also served as an inspiration for certain Hollywood filmmakers. Without de Broca, for example, there wouldn't be Indiana Jones movies.
